The Formation of ASMC
Among these individuals, Syed Mohammad Asad Omar had served as a Harrow Councillor and was subsequently elected as the first Mayor of Pakistani descent in Harrow. He also assisted with the documentation and registration process for ASMC.
Following considerable effort by Abdul Hamid Shaikh and Syed Asad Omar, the Association of Senior Muslim Citizens was formally registered with the Charity Commission in 2006.
Some of those involved in establishing the Association continue to serve ASMC today, reflecting the organisation’s longstanding commitment and continuity within the community.
Enhancing the quality of life of senior Muslims in our community
Our mission is to provide senior citizens with support, resources, companionship and a sense of belonging, enabling them to participate fully as valued and responsible members of society.
“We recognise that older members of our community can have unique social, cultural, practical and wellbeing needs. Through our activities and programmes, we aim to address these needs while promoting respect, dignity, independence and inclusion.”
