ASSOCIATION OF SENIOR MUSLIM CITIZENS ASMC

The Association of Senior Muslim Citizens ASMC is a community-based charity dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of senior Muslims in Harrow and surrounding areas. Through social, educational, and wellbeing programmes, ASMC helps older members of the community stay connected, active, and valued. The organisation fosters a strong sense of belonging while promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion for all its members.

What We Do

See how you can make a difference in our seniors' lives

Every bit of support helps ASMC keep running the programmes our members rely on, from community gatherings and health workshops to companionship and practical help from volunteers. Whether you give your time, take part in an event, or make a donation, it all adds up to a community where no senior citizen faces isolation alone.

Our History

Our History

The history of the Muslim community in Wembley and Harrow spans almost eight decades. What began as a small but steadily growing presence during the 1950s has developed over the years into a well-established community. Today, it is estimated that 30,000–40,000 Muslims live in Harrow alone, with many families having deep and longstanding connections to the area.

The majority of Muslims in Harrow are of South Asian heritage. As the community grew, so too did its religious, social and cultural needs. Small groups of Muslims began coming together to establish places of worship and community support. In many cases, individuals pooled their resources to purchase properties, converting the ground floors into mosques and using the upper floors as accommodation for Imams.

From these early initiatives, a number of community societies and associations emerged, established by residents who recognised the importance of supporting one another and preserving the values, traditions and wellbeing of the growing Muslim community.
